  • DESCRIPTION: Printed text in top corners "Thomas Cornell's Line - New York and Roundout." Publication line notes Endicott Co. at 59 Beekman Street - Endicott & Co. was at that address between the years 1852-70. It is stated that the steamboat Mary Powell, built in 1862, was known as the “Queen of the Hudson” for her elegance and speed. She was in service for over 55 years carrying passengers to and from Kingston to lower Manhattan making stops at Poughkeepsie, Milton, Newburgh and Cornwall. Four different Captains were at the helm of the Mary Powell – Captain Absalom Anderson and his son, Captain A. Altinge Anderson, Captain Frost and Captain Cornell. When this print was made Thomas Cornell owned the Mary Powell and Captain Frost was at the helm.
